How blind I was to not see it before,
my fate lies with a man I tried to ignore.
I felt his presence and it shook my soul,
but my mind was fooled by a flashier role.
Part of me knew, a man without pain, would cause it.
While I tried to banish the thought, it would not quit.
A man without grief cannot truly know my heart.
Without true understanding, we'd surely grow apart.
One evening I wept, with my new found discovery,
that a good man would sit by me through any recovery.
Delighted and free, with what I have chose.
To him I shall venture, through mountain and grove.
Once I had reached him, the tattered knight rose,
and with a nod and a smile, I forget all of my woes.
The tattered knight holds me, pulls me to his side
asks, What is it that made you finally decide?
When I realised he waited, tears fell from my eyes
his thumb frames my face and with it he dries,
my cheeks turn to blush and my mouth quivers
he kisses my lips and my back shakes with shivers.
He whisks me away to his home beneath the trees,
upon arriving he gets down on his knees.
For years I have waited, and now you've arrived.
My heart had felt dead, but now it's revived.
How did you find me, was it by chance?
However it happened, it makes my heart dance.
He says this to me and proceeds to take my hands,
Now I'll tell him my story, and pray he understands.
There have been others before, but it never felt right.
They'd appear true from afar but not in the light.
I thought you a dream, nothing but myth,
A fantasy I created, a foolish girl's wish.
It's been years that I've struggled with finding my love.
But then I heard your name on the wings of a dove.
The little bird told me, just go to the trees.
For in them you'll find the answer to all of your pleas.
I took the advice, as any desperate girl would,
when I arrived, to my relief, there you stood.
My knight speaks with a smile across his face,
Twas a bird that led me to the same place.
Mine was an owl, that perched on my shoulder,
He told me, go the grove for in it you'll find her.
Together we rejoice, joined forever by birds.
Thankful we listened to their meaningful words.
So now that we're united we'll form our own flock,
and teach them to love birds and about how they can talk.
